OrangeFrame is a Chrome extension that lets you select Hacker News comments and export them as a clean PNG card for sharing on X or LinkedIn. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.
When you are on a Hacker News thread page, OrangeFrame reads the following from the page DOM in your browser:
This data is used solely to render the card preview and generate the PNG you download.
No. OrangeFrame does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data with any server or third party. Everything happens entirely within your browser.
OrangeFrame uses chrome.storage.local (your browser's local storage) only to remember your preferences for a specific Hacker News thread — for example, whether you had "Include post header" turned on. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.
OrangeFrame uses Sentry for crash and error reporting. If the extension encounters an unhandled error, a report containing the error message and stack trace may be sent to Sentry. This report does not contain any Hacker News content, usernames, or personally identifiable information. Sentry's privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy.
OrangeFrame is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.
If this policy changes materially, the "Last updated" date above will be updated. Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Questions about this policy can be sent to snow.650@gmail.com.
OrangeFrame is an independent project and is not affiliated with Y Combinator, Hacker News, X, or LinkedIn.
